As I continue through the Master of Library and Information Science program at Old Dominion University, my career goal is to become an academic librarian specializing in digital archives, metadata, research data management, and knowledge organization. I also plan to pursue a doctorate after completing my MLIS and several professional certifications. The following resources will support my continued professional development, provide opportunities for networking, and help me stay informed about emerging technologies, digital preservation, artificial intelligence, and research data services.
As I pursue a career in academic librarianship, ACRL will be one of my primary professional organizations. It provides research, conferences, professional standards, continuing education, and guidance on topics such as information literacy, research support, scholarly communication, artificial intelligence, and research data management. Since I currently live in Virginia and plan to begin my library career here, the Virginia Library Association is an important professional organization for networking and professional development.
